Hue + Me: Level Up Blanket Scarf
The Level Up Blanket Scarf is an exclusive pattern made in my brand new yarn, Hue + Me, produced in partnership with Lion Brand Yarn. Learn more about the yarn and collaboration here!
Shards of color slice into a neutral base to add drama and intrigue to this simple garter stitch blanket scarf. Cozy up under the squishy fabric by draping it over the shoulders, or go for a bold statement and wrap it around the neck like a scarf. Is there anything better than a wearable blanket? My vote is no. And it seems like that’s the general consensus when it comes to Fall 2020 fashion as well. Proenza Schouler, Libertine, Givency, Chloe, and Balmain (to name a few!) all sent models down the catwalk adorned with wearable blankets draped over their shoulders or wrapped across their chests.
Fall just beckons you to get cozy and add on a layer of knits, and the Level Up Blanket Scarf is here to report for duty. Whether it’s worn as a shawl over the shoulders or wrapped around the neck like a scarf, this mammoth wrap is here to offer sanctuary and protection.
With volume being a huge trend this season, it’s thought that there is a general theme of wanting to hide under one’s clothes … no surprise there after what 2020 has thrown our way! This blanket scarf is the best excuse to cuddle up until spring.
This sea of garter stitch is broken up with color blocked shapes to keep the project interesting and offer some pops of life on the neutral base. I love the symbolism of little cracks of hope shining through! :) Level up your style, your wardrobe, your scarf game, and your outlook all at once with this truly statement-making accessory.
You really can’t go wrong with any color combo in Hue + Me, so this could easily be worked up in any of them and look spectacular. It’s the perfect canvas to playfully show off your favorite shades or match them to school colors or any other inspo you can think of. Can’t decide on a combo? Check out this handy color theory guide to help you decide!

Notes: Scarf is worked end to end using intarsia colorwork in garter stitch. To prevent holes at color changes, yarns should be twisted once – to change color on a RS row, bring the old color over the new color to the left and pick up the new color on the right from underneath to begin the next stitch; to change color on a WS row, bring the old color to the front of the work (the new color will already be there) and over the new color to the left, then pick up the new color on the right from underneath and bring it to the back of the work to begin the next stitch.
With CC1, CO 54 sts.
Begin color chart or follow written instructions below. Chart begins at bottom right corner, row 1. Each row of the chart counts as 2 rows of work – odd/RS rows are worked right to left, and even/WS rows are worked left to right. Chart is broken into three parts for ease of reading.
