Zodiac Icons Blanket: Assembly + Border
With the final square of Leo, we are ready to complete our blanket and the knit-along! The last steps are the assembly and border so we can display our blankets with pride. After a year of work on such a special project, it is so fulfilling to see it all come together! There is so much represented in this blanket, and having learned about each season along with our resident astrologer Ramona, I hope we all have a better understanding of ourselves and the patterns of the zodiac.

Seeing every icon represented in the blanket and remembering what each season stood for is really something! Did you have a favorite pattern or season while working on the project?
I know going into this project I had some (negative) pre-conceived notions about certain signs. Now I have so much better understanding of each one and can really see the positives in them! One thing I learned was how each season perfectly followed the previous one to bring about an overall sense of harmony. Having them all together in the blanket really represents that now!
One thing to note regarding yardage - due to the intarsia colorwork and the need to make multiple bobbins to complete the blanket, I erred on the side of overestimating how much yarn would be needed to ensure everyone would have enough. With a technique like this there is bound to be some waste because of the bobbins so I didn’t want anyone to run out before they were finished. If you happen to have any full skeins left over, I would highly recommend whipping up a Seafarer’s Cap, my favorite one-skein Hue + Me project!
