Hue + Me: Kaleidoscope Poncho
Quick, easy, and striking. Those are three of my favorite attributes when it comes to designing, and the Kaleidoscope Poncho has them all! I never tire of putting together color combos with Hue + Me. Did you know with the six new colors, there are 42,504 five color combinations you could put together for this poncho? I know it sounds insane, but it's true! While that may feel more than a bit overwhelming, just know that whatever five colors you choose, you can't go wrong. The Hue + Me palette was built to mix and match effortlessly!
I love a poncho for transitional weather and added warmth. It's a great topper for those days when you just need an extra layer but don't want to wear a bulky coat, or for tossing on around the house when there's a slight chill in the air. While I'm usually all about the oversized look, the Kaleidoscope Poncho is the perfect size to feel cozy without feeling like you're wearing an entire blanket.
The addition of the collar is one of my favorite parts of this piece. Worked up in a cool reversible stitch, so you can wear the poncho on either side to reveal the ribbing either when the collar is popped up or when it's folded over.
This is an easy level crochet pattern and the techniques involved are half double crochet, single crochet, and slip stitch.

Notes: Poncho is worked flat from the top down in back and forth rows. Turn at the end of each row. To change color, work the final yarn over of the previous stitch with the new color. Poncho is reversible – the collar can be worn with the ribbing facing out or facing in to show when folded over. Pattern is written for three sizes: XS/S/M (L/XL/2XL, 3XL/4XL).
Collar:
With color A, ch 10.
Row 1 (RS): Starting in 2nd ch from hook and working in back bump of foundation ch, sc across row. (9 sts)
Row 2 (WS): Sl st loosely across row.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc across row.
Rep rows 2 and 3 until work measures 26 (28, 30)”/66 (71, 76)cm, ending with a RS row. Fasten off.
Fold ribbing in half so that first and last row meet, and mark the center so that there are 13 (14, 15)”/33 (35.5, 38)cm on either side.
Body:
Rectangle 1: Color B
With RS facing, join color B to being working down long edge of collar.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, hdc 26 (28, 30) evenly along long edge of collar to halfway point marker. (26 (28, 30) sts)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, hdc across row.
Row 5: Ch 1, hdc across row, changing to color C on final yarn over of last st.
Rectangle 2: Color C
Keeping RS facing, rotate work to being working along short edge of rectangle 1.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, hdc 6 evenly along short edge of rectangle 1, then hdc 26 (28, 30) evenly along long edge of collar from halfway point marker to end, then hdc 6 evenly along opposite short edge of rectangle 1 to connect the neckline. (38 (40, 42) sts)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, hdc across row.
Row 5: Ch 1, hdc across row, changing to color D on final yarn over of last st.
Rectangle 3: Color D
Keeping RS facing, rotate work to being working along short edge of rectangle 2.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, hdc 6 evenly along short edge of rectangle 2, then hdc in each st along long edge of rectangle 1, then hdc 6 evenly along opposite short edge of rectangle 2. (38 (40, 42) sts)

Rectangle 4: Color E
Keeping RS facing, rotate work to being working along short edge of rectangle 3.

Rectangle 5: Color A
Keeping RS facing, rotate work to being working along short edge of rectangle 4.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, hdc 6 evenly along short edge of rectangle 4, then hdc in each st along long edge of rectangle 3, then hdc 6 evenly along opposite short edge of rectangle 4. (50 (52, 54) sts)
Rows 2-4: Ch 1, hdc across row.
Row 5: Ch 1, hdc across row, changing to color B on final yarn over of last st.
Rectangle 6: Color B
Keeping RS facing, rotate work to being working along short edge of rectangle 5.
Row 1 (RS): Ch 1, hdc 6 evenly along short edge of rectangle 5, then hdc in each st along long edge of rectangle 4, then hdc 6 evenly along opposite short edge of rectangle 5. (62 (64, 66) sts)

Fasten off.
